CrawlBrain Documentation
CrawlBrain is the AI site search upgrade for your website. It reads your website content and turns your outdated search box into an AI that understands customer intent, delivering direct answers with sources in seconds, in your visitors' own language. It is not a chatbot, and it needs no developers.
This is the manual. Setup takes a few minutes, and the first three pages below cover it end to end.
Two minutes on a store, before and after CrawlBrain:
The Overview dashboard after a site has been synced and the widget is live.

If you have just signed up, read these three pages in order and you are done.
| Page | What it covers | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Quickstart | Signup to answering visitors, the whole path | 5 min |
| Adding a Website | Point CrawlBrain at your site and sync it | 2 min |
| Choosing a Method | Get the widget onto your pages | 1 min |
If you want to understand the machine before you turn it on, read How CrawlBrain Works first. It is short.
What is in this manual
Your content. Everything CrawlBrain knows comes from your site. Pages shows what it crawled, and Snippets holds what you add by hand for answers your site does not cover. Sync History is the receipt for every URL it tried.
The widget. A single script tag puts it on your site, with three placements to pick from and a settings page that previews itself. Start at Widget Overview.
Insights. Every question your visitors ask is logged and readable. Conversations shows the full threads and Searches shows what people typed. Content Gaps is the ranked list of questions your site could not answer, which makes it a content roadmap written by your own visitors.
Developer. The API is server-to-server, and tool integrations connect to it through OAuth 2.0. To open the widget from your own button, use the JavaScript API.
Account. Credits and Limits explains what your balance pays for, and Answers and Searches shows why an answer costs more than a search. How you pay is on the Billing page.
Two words you will see everywhere
Search shows relevant pages as a visitor types, letter by letter, like Google autocomplete. It writes no AI answer and returns instant results matched on meaning.
Answer is the AI. It runs when the visitor submits a question. CrawlBrain reads the relevant parts of your content and writes a direct answer with links to the source pages.
Both use credit from the same balance. An answer uses much more than a search, and how much depends on the AI model you choose, which is why the widget searches as people type and only calls the AI when someone presses Enter. Answers and Searches explains the split in full.
Conventions in this manual
Paths inside the dashboard are written the way the sidebar reads them, for example Knowledge → Website or Search Widget → Install.
Anything in monospace is text you type or paste, or text that appears on screen exactly as written.
Boxes like this one are the things people email support about a week later. They are worth thirty seconds now.
Still stuck
Troubleshooting covers the widget not appearing, syncs that find nothing, and answers that come back wrong. The FAQ covers everything else. If neither helps, get support.
