Release Notes

Versioning

These docs are versioned alongside the product, and 2.x is the current version.

The widget script has one address:

URL Notes
https://cdn.crawlbrain.com/v1/widget.min.js The widget. Updates reach your site automatically
https://cdn.crawlbrain.com/v1/widget.js Same file, unminified, for debugging

Older embed addresses (/widget.min.js, /v2/, /v3/) load the same file, so there is nothing to change on a site that already has the widget. Updates keep every option and placement you set.

The API is versioned in its path. /v1 is current, and the legacy /api base keeps resolving indefinitely so installed integrations never break.

2.x

This is the current generation, and it includes:

Search widget. Six placements are available, including three that anchor to your existing search bar and expand in place with no popup. Appearance is fully adjustable, with per-page data-* overrides and a live preview that renders as you edit. See Widget Overview.

Hybrid retrieval. Vector search for meaning is fused with keyword matching for exact terms, so a vague question finds the right page and a SKU still matches exactly.

Multi-model reliability. Four providers sit behind your search. If the primary times out, traffic reroutes to a backup in milliseconds and your visitor never sees it. You pick a tier, not a model. See AI Model and Tone.

Conversation memory. Follow-up questions inherit the context of the last one, so a visitor never repeats themselves.

Content gap analytics. Every question your site could not answer is ranked, with a one-click path to writing the answer. See Content Gaps.

Search analytics. You see what visitors typed and how many results each search returned, along with the device, country and browser it came from. See Searches.

AI content export. Your indexed content exports as llms.txt, llms-full.txt, a Markdown bundle, CSV or JSON. See Exports and llms.txt.

Document import. PDF, Word, text, Markdown and CSV files are split at headings into individually retrievable snippets. See Importing Documents.

Public API and OAuth 2.0. The API gives server-to-server access to websites, content, agents and the question log, and OAuth adds an authorization-code flow for tools that connect to other people's accounts. See API Overview.

Browser extension. Tune the widget on your real site, live, and save the result to your account. See Browser Extension.

CMS plugins. Plugins are available for WordPress, Joomla, PrestaShop, Drupal, OpenCart 3 and 4, and Magento 2. See Choosing a Method.

Account security. Accounts support two-factor authentication with trusted device management, plus time-limited team access links.

What has not changed, and will not

Three commitments hold across versions:

Answers come from your content only. Nothing comes from the open web or general knowledge, and no policy is invented.

Every answer shows its sources. Your visitors verify in one click, and so can you.

Installed widgets keep working. Version-pinned URLs are immutable by contract.
